Midtown offers playful pieces & adventurous artwork for 2nd Saturday on June 10

A center for culture, creativity and vibrancy, Midtown Sacramento is an exciting 2nd Saturday Art Walk destination where local art galleries and other participating businesses collaborate to host a popular evening open house each month. Midtown guests will enjoy viewing art exhibits, participating in hands-on activities, meeting local artists, sampling food and wine, listening to live music and more.  On Saturday, June 10, 2017, a sampling of the offerings presented by Midtown galleries and businesses include the following:

  • ARTasylum (2017 I Street #B) – a new artist studio, gallery, and boutique in Midtown – presents a special show titled “Americana Glory,” a free themed art project and complimentary refreshments.  ARTasylum offers studio rental space to artists, hands-on community classes, as well a fun and creative space for resident and nonresident artists to sell their artwork.
  • Art Of Toys (1126 18th Street) – a toy art gallery built to showcase toys and the artists that craft them –features artists who are exploring “Myths & Urban Legends” with their art. An urban legend is a form of modern folklore consisting of usually fictional stories, often with macabre elements, deeply rooted in local popular culture.
  • Tim Collom Gallery (915 20th Street) presents a solo exhibition by Bay Area artist Nikki Bash-Davis. Nikki's paintings and sculptures celebrate the human spirit; conveying moments of serenity, affection, tolerance, despair and joy. Her poetic visualizations provide a sense of hope, despite humanity's turbulent journey towards uncertainty.
  • Union Hall Gallery (2126 K Street) offers a special exhibit titled “Color of Light” that showcases paintings by Jill Estroff and photographs by Chris Kilmer with a vivid palette and dynamic perspective. Guests can also enjoy live music and complimentary refreshments.

In addition to the special offerings provided by Midtown businesses on June 10, the ever-popular Midtown Farmers Market is happening that day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the THIS Midtown free summer concert (every 2nd Saturday through September) from 5 to 9 p.m. on 20th between J and K Streets. Midtown is both walkable and bike-friendly with parking available in nearby garages located at 1801 L Street or the East End Garage on 17th Street between L & Capitol plus various lots throughout Midtown.

Supported by the Midtown Association, most Midtown Sacramento 2nd Saturday Art Walk activities are available from 6 to 9 p.m. (although times may vary by gallery).  For more information about Midtown Sacramento, how to get around, special events and the Midtown Association, please visit www.exploremidtown.org.
