A center for culture, creativity and vibrancy, Midtown Sacramento is an exciting 2nd Saturday Art Walk destination where local art galleries and other participating businesses collaborate to host a popular evening open house each month. Midtown guests will enjoy viewing art exhibits, participating in hands-on activities, meeting local artists, sampling food and wine, listening to live music and more.  On Saturday, August 12, 2017, a sampling of the offerings presented by Midtown galleries and businesses include the following:

  • ARTasylum (2017 I Street #B) – an artist studio, gallery, and boutique in Midtown – presents a special show titled "Beach Boardwalk” along with an art demonstration, complimentary refreshments, an art project and art class giveaway;
  • Art of Toys (1126 18th Street) features Comics and Sci-fi with comic book illustrators and fun art. Plus, Artie Annette will have a FREE art activity for all ages creating Super Hero cuffs from 5:30 p.m. until dark;
  • Elliott Fouts Gallery (1831 P Street) presents a special exhibition titled “Matt Bult: Collages & Paintings” featuring composed images of sculptures in an interior space to replicate three dimensions. Using collage and watercolor, the artist has attempted to deal with formalist constructs such as space, composition, and volume;
  • Tim Collom Gallery (915 20th Street) presents a solo exhibition titled “New Fields” by artist Richard Stein that highlights bold textures, intense colors, and meticulous details in views from both air and ground that stir up nostalgia of Sacramento’s simpler country life;
  • TRUE (Totally Recycled Urban Exchange at 1900 K Street) presents creative work by artist Terry Shearn who uses fine fabrics, hand-dyed wool roving, alpaca and botanical materials for dyeing and printing to create unique functional and wearable art.  A retail store that benefits WEAVE, TRUE provides a FUN environment to enjoy music, sip wine and shop for clothing that creates change in lives when you buy;
  • Union Hall Gallery (2126 K Street) features artwork by four local women artists that highlights movement and behavior. One featured artist is Natalie Rezonov who specializes in ZIA (Zen tangle Inspired Art) that can be decorative art pieces, used to hold a paper stack or meditate. The idea is that art that can be touched, held and played with, and the artist uses simple river rocks to transform grey building material into colorful jewelry-like pieces.
