Update on Broadway Remodeling

Update on Broadway Remodeling

Last Friday I wrote about the remodeling of a building on Broadway that revealed the old Ed Fries Body Shop sign.  Well, I went by today, and guess what, I was wrong.  More of the facade has been removed....the correct name of the old business is Parell & Fries Body Shop.  The Parell was still hidden Friday, and the & looked like "Ed" to me.   Still no reports of this long lost business that I can find.

Today, Making Way for Tomorrow, While Revealing Yesterday.

Today, Making Way for Tomorrow, While Revealing Yesterday.

Work is underway at the corner of 8th and Broadway to convert what had been most recently, “First Tabernacle Fellowship Church”, into medical offices.   Crews removing the old façade from the church at 801 Broadway uncovered a bit of history.   The sign on the building behind the façade says “Ed Fries Body Shop….Since 1933, 24 Hour Towing”.     I can find no record of Ed Fries Body Shop.    I don’t know  when they moved in or out of the building. And while the real estate listing says this building was built in 1982, I think it is much older.
